All I can say is:
WOOOOOOO
Now whenever I have characters I don't need to get them greens or stuff...I'll just do BMP for max weapons! pwned.

Seems like now that's all been reversed

Exception being that, first time around, whiners were whining because of lack of ability to get something, and thus were, to some degree, pitiable, whether you take that as an offense or not. This time around, though, whiners are whining because of lack of elitism, which isn't really all that pitiable.
I mean, in the end, A-net is a business that seeks to make money. They have some largely unused and already set up content sitting around doing nothing. Would any prudent business not see that as an opportunity?
Besides, those who already have the content really have to see a few things, yet again:
-You got free content. Sure, it's possible that you could have received the content by cheaper means in a few cases, but in reality, you got yourself a pretty good deal, money-wise.
-You got it early. That's another 'cool thing' that adds extra value to something. You were there when it was new and got to participate in all of that whole 'lets find out what you can get' junk and whatnot.

Meh, my trust for them is really low at this moment.

I don't know how to feel about this.
Due to exchange rate (Australians are charged in pounds) I paid just shy of $AU20 MORE to buy EotN in the ingame store. I didn't buy for the BMP - which I'd already qualified for, but rather to actually have access to it when the servers went live. I'd have liked a box, but for me being able to play through at the same time as my guildies was more important.
I am happy for those who, for various reasons, could not buy things in the ingame store. Now they will have access to it.
I question the people who, believing the promotion to be stupid, did not buy in the online store (when they could have), then upon seeing the weapon skins qq'ed about it.
I fully understand the business decision behind this move. I have no qualms with it. But I do wonder what this might open the door for. As a number have already brought up divine aura, special dances, mini-pets? The mini salt-spray dragon was a "thank you gift" for CE buyers who kept their orders when they had to wait so long for their Factions CE. If it suddenly appears in store the "thank you gift" looses it's meaning.

I wouldn't have minded running the promotion again, but simply offering it for sale, imho is just really poor form and a kick in the face to everyone who DID support them.

Well, I did not buy the BMP but now that it will be available retail I probably will.
However, I agree with you, even though it would have meant I would not have gotten it, it would have been better to offer it in the same kind of promotion they did before so that everyone was treated fairly.
Course, I don't know, I'm getting so discouraged with ANet's marketing and PR that I might decide I don't really want to give them another 10 bucks.

You can't honestly say you didn't see this coming--it was incredibly blatant that this was a marketing pitch for Eye of the North.
I don't feel strongly about it one way or the other. Marketing is marketing is marketing.

both arguments aside, I'd say it's definitely NOT worth $10. You'll play the missions maybe twice, and never go back. You are set with a build, and they play exactly the same way, no variability.
another thought: Anet just totally undermined their online store. Special promotions? Lol. It'll be on sale later. And you can buy from retailers for much cheaper. Any special reasons to pay them directly just got shot.

Like when they extended the half price pvp skill packs? Not bad just an example.

So many crybabies in here, it's not even funny.
You people who bought from ANet's store got the BMP for "free," AND got the weapons and quests months before everyone else who didn't/couldn't get in on the promotion. ANet the did the right thing by releasing BMP now. Stop bitching about not having exclusive rights to your weapons and quests anymore.

Yay, FINALLY available in retailers, so I can ACTUALLY BUY IT!
Quit bitching, those of you who bought yours earlier. Some of us don't like buying stuff off the online store and like getting our hands on a physical package like the way things went back in the day.

Problem is we didn't "buy" it. It was supposed to be a "reward" for using the online store. I personally don't have a problem with the decision, as I would have bought EotN online regardless of the BMP.

Really, I already knew they were going to do this. When they first announced the "promotion" before EotN, I knew they they would eventually sell it on it's own.
Now, unless I'm mistaken, it says nothing about it being available anywhere either than the Online Store, so don't get your hopes up about getting it from a retail store.

Not true. Go back and read this post. It'll explain the situation to you.
For my part, I'm past the shock and have resigned to the fact that I'll have to buy another copy of GWEN. Or at least buy the box from someone else.
EDIT: OK, checked some of the prior posts. Now I'm not only going to direct Kynareth, but everyone else as well to post 210 in this thread. Jeez, leave for a few hours and the whole point gets lost.

QFT
i bought EoTN through the online store so i could get the BMP. i don't feel ripped off. 1) i got it for "free" and 2) i got it months before it would be available to people who didn't participate in the promotion. good deal, imo.
i know several people who bought EoTN from retailers because they like to have the box and cds, so they missed out on the BMP. they shouldn't be punished for that. i'm particularly excited about this for a guildie, who has been "tortured" by me and other guildies talking about how fun the BMP missions are and how cool the weapon skins are.
i swear, some people in this game aren't happy unless others are denied access to the things they have. how about we focus on equal opportunity content instead of the size of your pvegos, mmmkay? the BMP weapon skins are not special. you can't even trade them, and its not like the missions are hard. the BMP weapons are far, far from being elite/rare.
anyways...the BMP was a fun addition to the game and everyone should be able to buy it. happy to see this happen.
